Not sure why the brown elipse on the right has changed colour - thus creating a join line - as the other colours seem OK? Any advice on how to avoid this issue? Other than that, nice warm colours... very cool indeed ;)

I can never get my seams to disappear either when I'm dealing with an attempt to blend onto a digitally created gradient. Ironicaly, I find that the most success in this case is to carefully create your blend tiny bits at a time "by hand" instead of relying on a matching digitally created gradient. It's one reason I always do all my work at 2X and then reduce only once I'm done.

Fiddler:
Wow, I was afraid that such a tiny element wouldn't be recognized as a waterfall. And then you come along and even recognize the correct NAME of the waterfall! that's impressive.
Janette:
One reason why colors might change is if you are working in CMYK. Check to make sure that you are working in RGB instead.
As far as seam-work go (even though it's not very relevant in my piece here), I do a lot of 1 and 2 pixel manipulations along the seam line, followed by the use of a tiny radius smudge tool with random shaping and fade.
