I've been off the corpse map for a while.... has everyone been consuming mass quantities of LSD while I was gone?
deathmetalchef at June 28, 2007 9:01 AM
We couldn't, you took it all. I've had to make do with datura but my visions have been so intense that I've needf both hands to hold on to my sanity that i don't have one to hold a stylus or mouse. Hence no panels from me in a while.

.... so THAT'S why my pupils have been so dialated! So you're saying that the pink elephants running around in my house are a figment of my imagination? Looks like I need to sober up and get back in the game...
deathmetalchef at June 28, 2007 12:14 PM
apparently it's the slug juice making everyone see pastel.
and I think for the first time I can say Mudhooks slice looks like a pastel rainbow turd, and not have it be an insult.
P.S. Stop eating rainbow slugs.

I quit drinking and smoking - all kinds - and anything else remotely fun. Looking at / participating in these pieces is the only psychodelic opportunity I have anymore.

Boy I hate having to stare at spelling errors I've made, unable to edit them.

Snail and slugs are different animals, people!
skunksarecool at June 28, 2007 2:57 PM
"Snail and slugs are different animals, people!"
Ummmm... no. They are both Gastropods, phylum Mollusca (the Latin molluscus means "soft") and the class Gastropoda (originating from the Greek gaster ("belly") and podos ("foot")). Slugs are land snails without shells or with only a remnant of shell buried in their flesh.
Slugs can be found in North America in sizes ranging from 1 to 10 inches and in a range of colours from your typical gray-brown to bright yellow, as in the case of the Banana Slug (any guesses how it got its name?) in the Pacific Northwest. This beauty can weigh up to 1/4 pound!
Slugs and snails are Hermaphroditic, having both male and female sex organs, often highly diversified and species-specific, a case of the right tool for the right job, if you will.

Ok then lol.
Thats a lot of slug.
It's a cool corpse though I like how it all works together. To get back to the original topic.
whatnow88 at June 28, 2007 5:09 PM
Incidentally, the banana slug is the official state mollusk of California.
Fiddler at June 28, 2007 5:22 PM
Very imaginative, I like it.

"Slugs are land snails without shells or with only a remnant of shell buried in their flesh."
See? Different. The gastropods in the picture have shells. Not to mention that the word snail appears in the pictures. If we are going to get technical. Humph.
skunksarecool at June 28, 2007 8:19 PM
There is no official Californian skunk. Still, they are cool.

Lol... It actually looked more rainbow and less "turd" the first time I created it. However, as with most things, if you make a drastic error and try to recreate it, it is going to look like shiiii.... never mind.
What it started out looking like was that fabric that was popular in the 70s. Sort of a stretchy fabric version of marbled paper.
Actually, it makes me think of something a friend told me about going to a resort on Cuba... She was very good the whole time she was there, never over-imbibing.
The last night, she decided to have a drink or two and was intrigued by the liqueurs which are in many layers in the glass. Not realizing how powerful they were, she had more than a few too many. However, she managed to get to the airport and on board in one piece.
Unfortunately, after they took off, there was turbulence and, inevitably, she felt ill and went to the loo.
Apparently, the liqueurs managed to separate into their layers while in her stomach because she said that she experienced a truly "Technicolour yawn".

Slug-related story...
I was out in Eugene, Oregon, visiting my brother and sister. Eugene, being rather wet, has a lot of slugs... BIG slugs.
My brother, having a cat, would put the cat kibble out which attracted slugs and I would often find the bowl full of 3-4 inch-long slugs in the morning. The slugs would also find their way in the door and we would often find them in the kitchen.
One day I was using the carpet sweeper (the non-electric kind) and it kept sort of jamming and didn't seem to be working properly. I took it apart and found a slug wrapped several times around the roller brush.... Now THAT was a big slug!

mudhooks I did love your stories even if they were slightly gross, but then again the stories on these pages do tend to be vibrant. Now that you mention fabric it does remind me of a Bill Cosby heavy nit sweater. Ah memories of days gone by.

Skunksarecool...
I was trying to think what your slice reminded me of... It is the series of children's storybooks by Eric Carle.... "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and "The Tiny Seed"...

snails here and in the previous corpse... they're everywhere. you could be next. you could be next!

I am reminded of a program I watched about snails (as in the raising of them for gourmet food). They showed a "snail farm" in which snails lived, happily munching in the dark on lettuce.
You could actually hear the sound of thousands of snails chomping on lettuce!

When I was a kid there was this play-doh like stuff called Plasticine, except only it was kind of oily and didn't ever dry out. When you'd play with it a while and start to get your colors mixed, it would look a lot like Mudhooks' creation here.
