It would be better if there was a little more going on in panel 2 and if the color change from dark to light gray was not a straight line.

Ummmm... it is meant to be straight since it is a sidewalk butting up to a wall. To me, the slice above looked like graffiti on a wall. If you block off the bottom two slices, it looks fine (not that I am saying there is anything wrong with them... just to say that there isn't anything wrong with the slice I did).
I tried "busying it up" and it just looked better like this. I am perfectly happy with it and like the whole piece.
I might point out that the change in shades of gray was done well below the beginning of my slice.

I'm not saying i didn't like it, it was just a thought. Sometimes it is impossible to tell what things are from 15px. Still, somehow the half of the red beetle was enough to carry the color scheme and mood of the piece. A good show for the collective unconsciousness.
