'Tis the season, indeed.

Candy Canes or Coal.

Miroje at December 13, 2006 11:19 AM

Was this one made from spare parts ?
Sort of Frankensteinish.

docilebob at December 13, 2006 11:59 AM

does anyone follow the rules anymore?

deathmetalchef at December 13, 2006 12:29 PM

shhhhh! C'mon guys, don't you know you're not supposed to say anything negative?!?

I think this corpse is great! I like how it has faces and colors in it!

unapologetic at December 13, 2006 1:05 PM

i quite like panel 2

kookyknut at December 13, 2006 2:11 PM

Frankenstein, indeed! I think this corpse killed Peter Boyle.

amyc at December 13, 2006 2:13 PM

Panel 2 would be nice, except that it seems to be responsible for 2 of our three seams here.

Shae at December 13, 2006 2:37 PM

i'm glad all of these got onto the same corpse instead of being spread across four different ones

moonroof at December 13, 2006 3:29 PM

Amen, moonroof. And hey, lilah gets to see how it feels. Even though it was a good start.

Jim at December 13, 2006 3:44 PM

I would like it to be known that I like the piece. I thought I was being cute with my graph and such. :(

BudhaCronX at December 13, 2006 3:46 PM

I dont think panel 2 is responsible for 2 seams. Just the one on top. Panel 3 is responsible for 2 seams.. one at the top in an overlap with panel 2 and topped with a white line, but look how the purple glow from panel three is continued in that white line) and at the bottom there is the white seam which falls in panel 3 (by 2 pixels or so)

As for liking of the panels separately.. I pretty much like the start and panel 2 could have been great if had just flowed from one a bit more

I.c.e Motion at December 13, 2006 3:52 PM

ditto moonroof

benny at December 13, 2006 4:08 PM

The biggest problem I have with panel 1 is that there's no imagery to it. To me it looks like someone scribbled in Photoshop then just applied a bunch of filters. It might be a style others like, but I don't care for it. To me, there's no work involved. My pieces take several hours until I'm even slightly happy with them, none of these pieces seem to have taken long at all. The piece I like the most is 2, but the way that it's done looks, to me, to have been done by a good artist (or at least someone who seems to have a good eye for color relationships) who was half-assing it.

I might not be the best corpser out there, but at least I can honestly say I give each one my best effort, and I don't think any of these had much effort put into them at all. It's a trend I see happening more and more, along with the growing trend of 'let's see how hard we can make the continuation for the next person!' I've seen lately.

Fiera at December 13, 2006 5:11 PM

Budha: You can't ever go wrong with Andy. I like your piece too.

Miroje at December 13, 2006 5:48 PM

I disagree, I think panel 1 is quite nice. I think that a corpse with every slice being super-fancy-all-out with pictures of fish and skulls and pirates and christmas trees all in 200 pixels becomes very busy. Busy can be quite interesting, and a good insight into the collective unconsciousneess, but not necessarily aesthetically pleasing. I think simpler pieces, especially at the top, can lead to a more successful composition.

It would be neat sometimes to see alternate corpses.

skunksarecool at December 13, 2006 8:11 PM

It's a quilt. RIP Peter Boyle.

damselfly at December 14, 2006 3:15 AM

Ugh. They can't all be perfect. Pick up the pieces and try again, but let's not try and reclaim this as a great corpse, OK?

Patrick Beverley at December 17, 2006 4:16 PM

That said, I def. dig the transcendant something of Andy's math.

Jessica at December 18, 2006 1:25 AM

well frankly i need to add my two cents here. when i received the piece no 1 I frankly had no clue what do do with it. the white parts of the background were actually just transparencies. I did not half-ass it (i actually find such comment to be non constructive and rude, sorry)Thank you still for appreciating the fact that I can be a good artist; if you look at other of the corpses I worked on, well the result is way different. As for collective consciousness, well this is how I work, this is a something that comes back in all the forms of art i do. And no not everything is life is beautiful. And yes, simpler things are good too. But well, that not really my thing.

I am desapointed myself in the result, but I am especially desapointed in the type of remarks-comments that I was not expecting in this collective of artists.
