Nice, even if the first slice is non-standard, it's a good way to ensure seamlessness!
Katy at July 31, 2006 8:25 AM
It's creative, and it works, but that doesn't mean I like it.
Jim at July 31, 2006 8:35 AM
Wow. I feel like the kid that was invited to play baseball with the other kids, but put behind the tree in right field.
Poncho Man at July 31, 2006 8:46 AM
You know what PonchoMan, I like it. Perhaps it's not a method that will always work in corpsing, but in this one it worked out really well and that's what matters. It is a game, it's an art game and people take art seriously, but it's a game nonetheless. Collaborative efforts don't always go the way people want them to and I think you should wait for your co-corpsers to comment. I think they'll be happy with the results, we all love our own "ugly" babies.
Keep playing.
kleinertigre at July 31, 2006 8:50 AM
Nice title. "Lock me out" seems to refer back to the first panel.
amyc at July 31, 2006 8:52 AM
Yeah, I can dig this, I'm always interested to see experimentations with style. They don't always work, but this one is certainly not without value as a piece.
Patrick Beverley at July 31, 2006 9:05 AM
Sorry Poncho Man, didn't mean for it to sound harsh!
Jim at July 31, 2006 9:13 AM
psycho- I bet you really scratched your head trying to figure out what to do with the slice you received! Good job.
Jim Drews at July 31, 2006 9:50 AM
I actually think it looks like psychopooch might have put in the horizontal line, not Poncho Man. I'm at work right now so my investigation amounted to print-screening the corpse into Microsoft Paint and fiddling with the selector tool, but the line appears to fall right at 201px, in the second panel. Poncho's comment about being the kid stuck behind the tree in right field would make more sense in that case, anyhow.
I mean, the corpse still looks pretty cool. Not my favorite, but good artistry going on and all. And the first panel is stunning.
velocity girl at July 31, 2006 11:07 AM
Well, I'm usually pretty anti-seam, but I think this works. And in all the fuss about the first panel, we've failed to notice that the corpse looks great overall and the last couple panels are downright gorgeous.
Kudos to all four players.
Shae at July 31, 2006 11:10 AM
I think you're right, velocity, the plot thickens. Interesting substitute for non-continuity
Jim Drews at July 31, 2006 11:57 AM
A creative and pretty way to weasel out.
damselfly at July 31, 2006 1:19 PM
Oh, no need to worry about sounding harsh, Jim. I didn't take it that way. And truly, everybody did do an excellent job on their pieces.
Velocity girl, nice catch, and thanks for the remarks. I had left my slice "open" for continuation, and was not the one to add that bottom horizontal white line. (Maybe if I would have explained that, people might have understood my right field comment!)
I guess the exquisite corpse gods don't want me starting corpses anymore. This is the second time I started a corpse, and the second time it didn't really work out. I'm cursed!
Hear that Phineas! Don't make me start another one! Please!! It will go down in an exquisite flaming ball of fire!
Okay, enough of the dramatic stuff. :o)
Poncho Man at July 31, 2006 3:03 PM
I like it.

I have no idea what all these negative comments are all about... this corpse looks great! I really like it. =)
Crucibelle at August 1, 2006 6:53 AM
It was my fault with the seam. I added the horizontal line. Didn't realize there was a big globe in the middle of poncho man's slice. I interpreted the black and white hands as flower petals, hence why I used a flower in my slice. I was going for the framed black and white flower look and thought it would kinda mirror the top slice in look and feel. o well...
Nice slice Poncho Man! sorry i botched it on this one.
psychopooch at August 1, 2006 8:11 AM
I don't think this was a botching at all. It's an interesting solution, and from the comments here I think it kind of worked out. Besides, and I forgot to mention this before, the frame goes all the way around to the bottom of the corpse, which is awesome--that almost never happens. You didn't know how the frame looked at the very top of Poncho's panel, yet the way you did your transition fit so well everyone thought it must have been part of the first section. That's some mighty tapping of the collective unconscious right there.
velocity girl at August 1, 2006 8:31 AM
I love the way Poncho Man's piece is sepatrate, but then again......is it really? The colors flow nicely and there is a great simplicity to the overall piece. Great creativity and one of my favorites!
Wild........ at August 1, 2006 9:33 AM
Yes, I like the way this one worked out as well. It appears much more coherent than the average corpse. Each section is quite well done. Good job all.
jakedrews at August 1, 2006 10:39 AM
I like it. The possibilities are endless, with a slice like the one PonchoMan passed on. I esp. like how, for me anyway, it sets up expectations as to how it might be continued, and how those are promptly dashed and replaced with a whole new set of vital elements. Nice work.
Jessica at August 1, 2006 12:27 PM
Once again Velocity Girl, I agree. I don't think you botched anything too, psycopooch. It was definatly thinking outside the box, and that's always commendable.
Poncho Man at August 1, 2006 10:37 PM
Yeah, I'm not really too happy with my slice. I was feel really uninspired at the time (hence the title of the slice). Oh well.
I am, however, suprised that the border continued the way it did.
Mechanical Soul at August 2, 2006 12:03 AM
Mechanical Soul, it sucks to be uninspired. However, I think your slice is gorgeous and has a huge amount to do with the overall coolness of the corpse.
Shae at August 2, 2006 6:57 AM
I think I felt quite oddly about this one too - and I think I still do - I don't hate it, not at all, but I'm not sure if I love it... Saying that, there is nothing wrong with it either!
I think, my bit's a bit busy, compared to the two above in the same "section" if you like, but it's rather bizzare that I got the rose in there too!
Quackling at August 3, 2006 2:05 PM
I really like the frames in this! quite unorthodox!
