Captain Kangaroo! Yay! and some scary web-tentacled squid thing! and a dark man whose legs turn into a donnie darko bunny skull! And people holding burning paper things!

All that being said, um, CAPTIALISM? what the hell is CAPTIALISM? argh! Remember, only YOU can prevent text in corpses!

unapologetic at July 27, 2006 8:07 AM

...the private ownership of the means of subtitle production?:)

Damn, I was so hoping that the barcode would get continued further into the next section. Could have been a cool design element to work with.

Nice match though! The joint, the match and Captain kangaroo definitely go together.

And the title is fabulous!

mariam at July 27, 2006 11:05 AM

I have to agree that at first "capitalism" bothered me there, but look at what else is in the corpse: a dollar bill, a barcode, and a rich-lookin' guy in a tophat, sailing along in a globe with all the poor people.

Add in the flame, what looks like the Earth melting, lots of water, "We're all in this together", a giant sea-thing emerging angrily from the deep... is this a corpse about global warming?

dagfooyo at July 27, 2006 1:17 PM

er... "We're all in the same boat" I mean. Must be thinking of Brazil.

dagfooyo at July 27, 2006 1:19 PM

'Burning paper things'. Ha ha ha. Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

The creature in the bottom is a vampire squid, I believe.

From my very limited experience, it seems that attempting to continue body parts usually does not turn out well.

Jim Drews at July 27, 2006 6:39 PM

HOLY SHIZZBALLS!!! I must say I am thoroughly impressed... It seems that despite my attempts at random nonsense, cohesiveness seems to dominate every corpse I've been involved with. No matter how hard I try to have people scratching their heads at my work, it always seems to meld. I must say I've witnessed few corpses that are as seamless as this one. I guess that's just part of the beauty of this game. Looks like I just need to try harder at not making sense.

deathmetalchef at July 27, 2006 10:38 PM

Pretty!
I like what wackywallflower did, a lot. Except for the whole text thing. Dagfooyo found "capitalism" bothersome; like unapologetic, I saw the captialist element as the corrupting influence.

Jessica at July 28, 2006 12:50 AM

Don't you guys get it? Captialism and Capt. Kangaroo. Obviously captialism references leadership by captains. Duh!

And it looks like somebody is about to get a hotfoot. I'll bet the person toking up is responsible for that prank.

murfinator at July 28, 2006 6:54 AM

It's just so great, my eye keeps getting drawn to the Bob Keeshans. It's a great corpse. I've lost my descriptive powers.

Jim at July 28, 2006 8:03 AM

I think the prankster is toe-king up...

FogBaron at July 29, 2006 9:34 AM

Murfinator, thank you.
See, text so often works against itself, as an obstacle to the viewer's understanding of the piece. ;) Captialism could be just what this country needs right now. ;)

An Exquisite Corpse is a collaborative experiment in the creation of visual art through the tapping of the collective unconscious...
