deliriumfish - Your panel is absolutely gorgeous. =)

Sein und Zeit - I like your transition into the green eye.

cookiepirate - what happened? Why the seam? Other than that, your panel has some really cool elements. I love the ivy covered golden dice. =)

Overall, I don't really like this corpse. It's not anyone's fault. All the panels are great in their own right, but in my opinion, they just don't go very well together. It all looks way too busy, to me. I think my hopes for this one were probably too high. I also believe that my end 15 pixels were too complicated to follow... should have worked on that one more. I think my starting slice got passed around a few times (at least once) before anyone took it. Ah well, first panels just aren't my thing. :/

Crucibelle at June 9, 2006 7:27 AM

extremely outstanding title.

Gfuz at June 9, 2006 7:54 AM

Judging from cookiepirate's part of the title, the seam was intentional. Boo!

murfinator at June 9, 2006 8:11 AM

I love this corpse! The details and textures are so beautiful and the continuity of color is very nice. I don't find it busy - there's a lot of stuff but it feels cohesive.

Congratulations on your first corpse, Deleriumfish! Your panel is marvelous! And it's wonderful to see someone doing completely hand-drawn work. And doing it so well! We need more corpsers like you.

The seam does bother me a bit, though I'm picky like that. If you imagine that it's the fold in a magazine or calendar it really looks all right.

dagfooyo at June 9, 2006 8:36 AM

When I this one I thought it was very nice. It took a few minutes to realise that I had done the 2nd panel. I had forgotten this one, in fact, this had been the 2nd effort at this one. I prefered my 1st effort and can't recall why I went with this one instead of the other. They were much different.

Sein und Zeit at June 9, 2006 9:31 AM

Welcome, deliriumfish. Nice job! Great job to all 4.

I like the corpse; however, I would have preferred no seam in this instance as the corpse is otherwise quite fluid.

Crucibelle, I'm glad you mentioned the 15 pixels you passed along. I believe it is critical to the corpsing process for each player to be aware of the strip she/he is passing along. When I create a panel, I check the strip by adding an opaque layer that covers the whole panel except for the 15-pixel strip at the bottom to see how it will look to the next player. Occasionally, I modify the 15-pixel portion based on this review.

That being said, one man's meat is another man's poison. Sein und Zeit did a fine job with what you thought was difficult.

I piped in because I don't think the 15-pixel strip garners sufficient discussion in relation to its importance in the corpsing process.

jakedrews at June 9, 2006 9:53 AM

murfinator - ah, I didn't notice the seam reference in the tile.

Jake - I agree that Sein und Zeit did a fine job. =) I just thought my slice may have been too difficult to follow, because it was passed on at least once, that I know of. However, it could have been passed on for another reason entirely. I'm just speculating.

I also check out the bottom 15 of my panels, as well. Mostly just out of curiousity, though.

Crucibelle at June 9, 2006 11:16 AM

C - I'm sure you do - your slices are quite well done!

jakedrews at June 9, 2006 11:30 AM

I just look at this as a two-fer. And both corpses are equally and consistently busy. They work for me. I like the jumble of imagery. I'm finding new interpretations the more I look at them. Like two dreams on the same night.

I don't understand the lack of attention that some players show as regards the seam issue, but I'm tired of letting it get in my way of enjoying the game.

Corpse on!

FogBaron at June 9, 2006 11:30 AM

BTW: What kind of card has an "H" on it?

FogBaron at June 9, 2006 11:31 AM

BTW, now that I recall this corpse, after I had posted my panel I kept checking the lists to check the progress and when I that cookiepirate was 3rd I expected there would be a seam because I had passed on a complex slice and because although he does outstanding panels, he always leaves a seam, frankly this is one of better ones.

Sein und Zeit at June 9, 2006 11:52 AM

AAAAaaaack nononono. Let me explain.

I got the note that this slice was just about to be done. However the one thing that I had to do left that I coudn't fit int was take out the what? Still, I was quite pleased with the subject mater--carrots and playing card things--who was I to argue with time? So, I made a reference in the title, refrained from making a video game reference, thought that was the end of it. At least, that's what I remember.

cookiepirate at June 9, 2006 12:46 PM

that explains it

jakedrews at June 9, 2006 12:51 PM

these are two really great corpses

Jim Drews at June 9, 2006 8:32 PM

cookiepirate,

Sein und Zeit said that you always leave seams. I looked for myself and he is right. Might be a good idea to start working on the seam/transition early on, instead of leaving it for last.

Jake - thank you! Your panels are always well-done, too. I'm a big fan of yours. =)

Crucibelle at June 9, 2006 9:10 PM

I love this one - the business, the colours...

Agreed that there is a problem with cookiepirate's transition. But we mustn't forget that some people find things harder than others -the tile it's self is lovely.

FogBaron: don't forget that people English is not the only launguage in the world and "King" doesn't always start with a K!

quackling at June 10, 2006 8:37 AM

Quackling - True. But H? I just checked every language I can think of that uses the latin or similar alphabet and all the words for King start with either 'k' (germanic and slavic) or 'r' (latin-based). Yes, I have too much time on my hands. What language are you referring to where King starts with H?

dagfooyo at June 10, 2006 11:41 AM

I think maybe it's Dutch?

doctormatt at June 10, 2006 11:51 AM

I am enlightened: jack = boer, queen = vrow, king = heer. Those crazy Dutch - it's like they have to have their own words for everything...

FogBaron at June 10, 2006 5:25 PM

i like it, i got the last slice before, and i wanted to do it, but it was too busy for me, and i didnt feel like i had enough details to work off. no offense meant, of course, it was just my first corpse and i was afraid i was gonna screw it all to hell, because i wasnt really sure what the corpse before me was like. which would suck on my first corpse, dont wanna get a bad reputation. lol. but, i think deliriumfish did a lot better job than i would have anyway, mine was going to be geared more towards the occult. well anyway, i really like this corpse, im glad i didnt send in my slice and screw it all up lol

Erishkigal at June 11, 2006 1:52 PM

It would be really cool if both of these were "finished".

Sein und Zeit at June 13, 2006 6:33 AM

Very nice , the cohesive result makes this one feel as if a theme was decided before...

Bernard Dumaine at June 13, 2006 4:01 PM

Sein und Zeit - agreed.

Bernard - No, there was no theme decided beforehand.
