Wonderful panel, julen.

I wonder why Jenny Rotten keeps turning in straight photographs for her panels. Where's the fun in that?

Crucibelle at May 10, 2006 6:52 AM

I don't know that "twice" really constitutes a trend, crucibelle.... besides, this one looks like it had some rewording involved, it's not just as-is. Plus, it's nifty. Too bad it wasn't really followed up on.

Daniel at May 10, 2006 7:36 AM

Reminds me of a 60's anti war - LOVE poster.

Wild........ at May 10, 2006 8:36 AM

That title is amazing. Not only is it a coherent statement, it sounds like one that bubbled straight out of the collective unconcious.

I see an image of countless parents, collapsed against their fridges in grief over lost sons and daughters, their tears staining through magneted pictures drawn by those children many years before.

dagfooyo at May 10, 2006 8:37 AM

Thanks for believing that is a "straight photograph". Mwahahahaha!

Jenny Rotten at May 10, 2006 8:40 AM

Out of curiousity, Jenny, what DID that photo say originally?

dagfooyo at May 10, 2006 9:40 AM

Well, the horse photograph certainly didn't appear to be manipulated at all. And neither does this one, however, I will take Jenny's word. It would be interesting to know what the original words were. And I agree, Daniel, twice is certainly not a 'trend'.

Crucibelle at May 10, 2006 11:19 AM

Jenny,

No need to thank me - I don't find images that appear to be plain photographs (whether they really are or not) very appealing. Very much in the same way that I can't stand photo-realistic art. However, that's just my personal preference.

Crucibelle at May 10, 2006 11:24 AM

This is a big mess. I like it.

moonroof at May 10, 2006 1:05 PM

That's some war. Kiss our tears onto 97 refrigerators.

Patrick Beverley at May 10, 2006 2:47 PM

The second panel looks pretty fresh to me.

jakedrews at May 10, 2006 5:08 PM

Indeed, Jakedrews.

Shae at May 10, 2006 7:05 PM

The whole midsection looks vaguely vaginal. Maybe that's just me.

Shae at May 11, 2006 6:03 AM

Could someone explain the refrigerators to me?

Jim Drews at May 11, 2006 7:43 AM

Shae,

That is what I see, as well. Actually, what it made me immediately think of are those medical female reproductive organ pictures - in abstracted form.

Crucibelle at May 11, 2006 7:44 AM

"The second panel looks pretty fresh to me."

I agree, and was surprised that Phineas let this one get by. Maybe the standards have changed somewhat.

murfinator at May 11, 2006 8:20 AM

At least ts made a cursory attempt to smear some of panel 1 downwards. Besides the love/war juxtaposition, to me this corpse is pretty rough on the eyes... but oh well, they can't all be great, each one's an experiment.

Jim at May 11, 2006 8:25 AM

Still don't see any fridges!

Jim Drews at May 12, 2006 7:47 AM

That's surrealism, Jim.

Patrick Beverley at May 12, 2006 11:01 AM

Ah
