I like the bug.

But the bug's pinned, like in the museum, suggesting hopelessness, loss of species, and submission.

This is my first piece, it feels like I've been waiting an age for it to appear.

I'm so glad I chose to carry on the lines from the strip I recieved, it makes a big difference to the corpse as a whole.

The Bug's Nightmare:

Precariously suspended over toxic sludge while attempting to avoid detection by the shadowy figures from an alien world - alarm bells and flashing lights.
Pinned and skewered, entangled in plastic junk. Unable to fly with, as yet, unformed wings.

Or is it...
[God forbid!] A bug's comment on ecological degradation?

BTW:
Can anyone tell me the difference between a grasshopper and a locust?

Blue lines..
Nothing but
Blue lines..
From now on.

paraphrasing here, but i heard somewhere [one of the exorcist movies i think] that the locust and grasshopper are the same critter. the locust occurs when there are an overabundance of the little buggers. they eat everything in site, and then unsated, frenzy, and swarm on crops.

I love the stencil art!

So, I guess....
That explains the difference between bugs and buggers too.

Colin Vincent at May 30, 2006 10:51 PM

tony,

that's interesting... I wonder if that's really true?

Love the impaled bug, Colin. =)

mjhoward - excellent finish!

Crucibelle at May 30, 2006 10:53 PM

nightmarish and nice to look into- good surrealism!

Attenuated blue test tubies....

I love you guys...
This is
Sooo cool.

I'm glad too MJ, about carrying the blue lines through.
Neither of us had much else to work on.
A superb start [and, rrhhem, end] on your part.
:^]]

The 'bug' in question:
I watched from shedding its skin to full-blown wings.
In my own back yard.
This being the best of a half dozen shots.

TY :)
