Very nice!

This has to be the most perfect corpse I have ever seen! Wow!
cloud_eyora at April 6, 2006 1:32 AM
Moonroof: I just checked out all your other corpses and I liked them so much. I just don't get the shit part. The other 3 panels are so graceful, flow so well, fit...then ...what? What was in your mind that day if you don't mind revealing? Are we only suppose to give one-line positive statements here? Come on, lets have some good Cicada-like replies here. I'm not trying to be negative, Moonroof, I understand shit happens.
You can pick on me if/when I get a slice of corpse to put up. Now, I'm not trying to go 'hallmark' on you, but take away the 's' and 't' and just leave HI and it would be perfect.
FierceGrace at April 6, 2006 7:08 AM
Cicada-like replies (patent pending) are loud, annoying buzzes, literally and figuratively. But shit, I wouldn't mind hearing the story behind that panel and all panels on all corpses. Talk about your work people, I for one would love to hear what you have to say. For one thing, it will make the reports I type into my Clark Nova easier to write...
...hmm, perhaps I better lay off the bug powder for awhile...
Beautiful, beautiful corpse. The block-print appearing top panel is so subtely strange (that's a good thing).
Cicada at April 6, 2006 7:52 AM
I figured I would miff some people some people with my panel, that's to be expected. Let's see ... what was on my mind that day? Like I said, I forgot about that piece. My best guess is that I was in a funk about a relationship (not even) that ended about a year ago, and as much as I don't care anymore, it still rattles around in my skull. Here's something I made a couple days ago in a similar funk.
I agree that there is a contrast between my piece and the rest of the corpse, but I think the over-all idea of pretty pictures with ugly words is interesting. If the shit is hitting the fan, don't we put up a pretty face and pretend that everything is all right?
moonroof at April 6, 2006 10:55 AM
Dear Moonroof,
I checked out "Here's Something" and it is really fantastic. I love word collage. I first got 'taken' by it from work I'd seen in a magazine called 'Expressions'.
When I looked at the piece as a whole, or as individual images it made me feel exactly what it feels like to be dumped. oooo, makes your tummy hurt, but that's what it was meant to do.Thanks for sharing that with us. A picture is worth many words.
I like the how Shell5058 & Ann's slices merged symbols so nicely. Each of those guys have a crescent moon under them and they are stirring a big pot of universe stew. The alignment of everything fits as if one artist layed it out using beautiful percision. Your eye is pulled right in to planet earth....which can be pretty shitty, and your 'shit' is very pretty. But I think it should end with panel three, and Silvana's heavenly dragonish serpent should be on top. I know, I know. That's not how it works. Order is necessary but it is fun scrambling them sometimes.
Dor at April 6, 2006 11:53 AM
funny Ann. How did I know someone would say somthing like that?
billporter at April 7, 2006 1:58 AM
shit is dumb
billporter at April 7, 2006 1:59 AM
good corpse nonetheless
billporter at April 7, 2006 2:01 AM
I actually think the SHIT panel is the best one on this corpse. I have often wanted, through art, to express the urge to shout SHIT at the top of my voice, and it has genuinely never occurred to me to just put the word itself in. I saw this and thought "Yes". Without the SHIT, this corpse would be half as good.
"take away the 's' and 't' and just leave HI and it would be perfect"
I would dispute the idea that changing the entire meaning of a piece of art can ever make it "perfect", and the idea that censorship is a good thing, artistically. Hats off, moonroof.
(By the way, the rest of the corpse is also excellent. Just felt I had to focus on the most controversial part).
Patrick Beverley at April 7, 2006 1:20 PM
Oh please. There's a world of difference between censorship and asking someone why they made the choice they did. Talk about inflammatory language.
Cicada at April 7, 2006 1:56 PM
Wow, Patrick,
Take a breath! I was only teasing him. It was all meant quite lighthearted. If you think I would seriously 'CHANGE' his art, or style, or EVER censor anyone's art, you're mistaken. And why make it into a 'controversial' thing you had to focus on? I'm intitled to my opinion, too, Patrick, I rise, I rise!
...and one of the first words I ever spoke as a babe was 'shit', so I'm not a prude, dude.
I promise from now on I'll be a good lil girl and only give pablum, bland 'hey, great' comments. I sincerely appologize to Moon if he felt I seriously thought I'd think his work 'perfect' if it said 'hi'. jeeshh. One thing more, IF I hadn't been unafraid to ask Moonroof what he was thinking, I never would have gotten to hear the great story behind it or see that great piece that was sent 'Here's Something' . It really is fun to see artists solo work, too. So, maybe I didn't 'take my hat off to you' Moonroof, I think you enjoyed telling your story and sharing your work. Am I wrong?
Dor at April 7, 2006 4:20 PM
P.S. NAMES:I have finally gotten my username down to one. DOR, closest to my full name, Dorian. I've also sent posts as 'guest' (I didn't have the process figured out yet, duh). I've been 'Muzzie' , since a child or two or three are also members, and I was FierceGrace, which my husband was going to use but decided he didn't have the time...We had just seen Ram Dass' "FierceGrace" and chose it to honor him since we are both of his generation and were just totally blown away by the simplistic beauty of it.
So, I've widdled it down to Dor. (one of my children knew immediately one of us were "FierceGrace" so what's the point?)
Anyway, I know I'm a sarcastic Virgo with a sharp tongue. It's how me and my kids and husband relate, jokingly, teasing. Mock around the Clock. I love you all very much, artists, more and more with each equisite corpse....dor
Dor at April 7, 2006 4:32 PM
Well I think shit is great... Cicada mentioned hearing about all of the panels so - Mine is a dedication to all things green. I wasnt in a shitty mood, I was in a green mood so thats all it was (had i been, maybe the first panel would have been more like the third panel). I love starting a corpse because I feel like I have so much more to do with the whole feeling of it. I know that I can take my little strip of pixels and go any which way with them (I have done that) but I really dont want to FP it up, so.... Anyways, its so much more interesting when you get to start one and the 2 stand alone words really work for me. Another thing I liked is that the demand for GREEN! was subliminally heard and held throughout the piece.
Shell5058 at April 7, 2006 4:40 PM
"to express the urge to shout SHIT at the top of my voice, and it has genuinely never occurred to me to just put the word itself in"
I'm also a writer, a writer first, actually. The hardest part of visual art for me is to express what I feel without using words. Even my "Here's something" is mostly words, if you notice.
But all the controversy has inspired me! I thought bad words were fairly meaningless due to overuse, but they are indeed very powerful!
moonroof at April 8, 2006 12:38 PM
Well, sorry. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I was just trying to make a point about this corpse, and what I liked about it. I, too, am very happy to have seen "Here's something". And I concede that you are of course entitled to express your opinion, Dor, on condition that I remain entitled to express my opinion about your opinion when the mood takes me.
