This makes my day! The first panel especially is a hoot!

cirun at March 17, 2006 8:20 AM

cool! awesome transitioning.

yistergirl at March 17, 2006 8:42 AM

The Rider Waite tarot deck characters are secretly superheroes in their Clark Kentish office worker lives.

Ann at March 17, 2006 8:45 AM

Thats fun! love the first panel too, nice idea.

slinkachu at March 17, 2006 8:48 AM

Another fun one. The first panel would work as a stand-alone comic.

FogBaron at March 17, 2006 9:22 AM

The whole ice/skates thing makes for me - great job, julen. As well as the restrained finish. Great corpse everyone.

Jim at March 17, 2006 10:35 AM

Fantabulous and fun. Another outstanding corpse and so impressive the "comic" feel of it stayed consistent from beginning to end.

Cicada: I love the little accoutrements on your arcanic family. The styrofoam cup and pastries -- absolute treasure.

What's the headline on the paper read?

Miroje at March 17, 2006 10:35 AM

Sweet. Thank you. They work hard and I figured they deserved a rest like everybody else.

Here's what I really like about this corpse. Between my panel and kvasir's panel there's a constellation of illustrators who were (are) iconographic in their respective areas. Pamela Coleman Smith, Jim Starlin, Chuck Jones' version of Dr. Seuss, and the great Katasushika Hokusai. If you could pick any five illustrators to play Exquisite Corpse with...

(pardon me while I completely nerd out)

Anyone else notice a resemblance between Captain Marv-ell figure skating and Bruce Jenner figure skating? Of course only Marv-ell could skate on a frozen tsunami, although I think he may have hurt his back. Interestingly, Captain Marv-ell is, to my knowledge, the only super-hero to have ever died of cancer.

Thanks fellow corpsers, this was a blast.

I love the idea of the psychic hotline breakroom. What biscuits do they serve?

droozle at March 17, 2006 3:14 PM

Oh man, this is sweet. I just love it. Damn Cicada, can I hang out with you and be your bestest friend forever and ever, so I can pick that brain of yours? Have you thought of contacting the Adult Swim people for your version of the Psychic Hotline? Maybe Rider Waite firm could compete with the Crowley Book of Thoth hotline. I take it the Hermit is outside having a smoke. Outstanding!

And the rest of you!! When I first saw this I thought for sure there must have been some backroom collusion. Somehow you all tapped into the same vein of the motherlode.

Again, Sweet!!

Sein und Zeit at March 17, 2006 8:32 PM

Clairv-oreos?

More nerding, Capt. Mar-vell had pretty stock super powers, save for a special sense, a zen like connection to the Universe called Cosmic Awareness. In other words, he was mildy omniscient;).

Cicada at March 17, 2006 8:33 PM

haha the guy whose foot i could see totally looked like a superhero- orange boots, orange cape...lol
the newspaper is actually in czech i think, i just got some random newspaper thingy on google haha.

fun corpse hooray!

kvasir at March 17, 2006 10:48 PM

nice friggen corpse.absolutely love the first panel.

billporter at March 18, 2006 2:52 AM

Cicada your style on all your corpses is pretty sweet. Somehow you manage to fit a lot of stuff in there without it looking too busy or cluttered.. Good stuff.

billporter at March 18, 2006 2:58 AM

Speaking of iconic, my female head (in the lower left) has its basis in a Roy Liechtenstein image that I performed pixel surgery on. I wanted to make sure that the cartoon/illustrator vibe continued down through the picture.

julen at March 18, 2006 6:22 PM

Yes.

Colin Vincent at March 18, 2006 9:11 PM

Julen, that is awesome, the crowning glory.

Cicada at March 18, 2006 9:15 PM

Just got back in town, and this is the first time I've seen this one. Nice work all!
