crikey...

Phineas at February 19, 2006 12:40 PM

No thoughts. No words. Could even come close.

This corpse is a parasite of intellect and sense and just...consumes you.

Disturbing. Spectacular. Mesmerizing.

I can't stop staring at it.

Tony: Welcome. That's a most impactful debut.

Miroje at February 19, 2006 12:54 PM

Wow, Tony. And everyone. That's something else, right there.
I could have sworn I was getting a forehead hidden by hair. Blood vessels / chrysallis filament / muscle fiber = more perilous than I ever imagined.

Jessica at February 19, 2006 1:02 PM

Oh wow. I'm so in awe of the three pieces below mine in this corpse - the sort of following pieces everybody hopes for when they begin a corpse.

Patrick Beverley at February 19, 2006 1:09 PM

I freakin' love it. The face(s) and body(ies) of evil. And all eminating from a contemporary face, shaded and expressing a mix of threat and apprehnsion. What an intriguing blend of political cartoon, Lovecraft, Blake and Giger. Sing this corrosion to me.

Cicada at February 19, 2006 1:14 PM

I am in awe of us. Tony, what a superb follow-on to my piece. Welcome to the asylum.

FogBaron at February 19, 2006 1:26 PM

Sweet.

moonroof at February 19, 2006 2:57 PM

Hey Patrick,
Have you read "For Your Own Good. - The roots of violence in child-rearing" by Alice Miller? It talks a bit about Hitler's experience of 'pedagogy', and some other stuff...

Oh yeah, and um.. 'crikey''s right.
Ditto 'magic' stuff Tony.

Colin Vincent at February 19, 2006 9:16 PM

Kind of mirrors the madness in my mind.
Wonderful!

Wild........ at February 20, 2006 12:07 AM

what really scares me about this one is that the sunglass toter looks like one of the Coreys and shouldn't that be a nightmare best forgotten

Sein und Zeit at February 20, 2006 6:59 AM

yes! i've been waiting all my life to see hitler get spanked. gorgeous corpse dahlings, gorgeous.

yistergirl at February 20, 2006 8:14 AM

As Athena was borne from the brow of Zeus, baby Hitler hatches from the brow of mutant insect aviator shades boy. Love this corpse!

Ann at February 20, 2006 9:26 AM

Colin, I haven't read that book, but I will now, thanks for the tip.

And, yistergirl, I too quite relished putting Hitler in such a position of weakness, but my main point was that if violence towards children such as that I have represented did not take place, perhaps the more dramatic and direct violence committed towards the sorrowful children in the background would not happen, either.

Hate my Hitler-baby by all means - the background says it all - but pity him too.

Patrick Beverley at February 20, 2006 11:52 AM

Sorry, PB: No pity for Hitler.

FogBaron at February 20, 2006 8:09 PM

Patrick,
It's published by Virago, ISBN 0-86068-899-2.
Stuff about Jurgen Bartsch too... horrendous, when you think about it.
And, yes, you have to pity the poor little bastards, for what was done to them!

Colin Vincent at February 20, 2006 9:03 PM

Sing, [Cicada], of right and wrong; give [Andrew Eldritch] things that don't last long.
I want to know more about FogBaron's panel; I'm afraid any out-loud guesses (pollywogs? and a baby giant squid?) would sound Freudian. And tony - is that an original sketch, or a collage, or __? In light of Patrick Beverly's amazing 1st panel theme, it reminds me of a statue on the Albertinaplatz in Vienna.

Jessica at February 21, 2006 1:07 AM

Jessica: I'll have to get back to you on that. I'm traveling this week and away from my home PC. I believe it is a squid in some juvenile state, hence the disproportionate size of the eyes. The diver and the underwater cavern come from another source.

FogBaron at February 21, 2006 8:14 AM

Andrew Eldritch! I thought he looked familiar...was thinking maybe Lux Interior or Stiv Bators but couldn't quite reach that part of my past life. I guess if I could remember the 80s, then I wasn't there.

Ann at February 21, 2006 9:00 AM

thanks everyone, for the kind words.

Jessica: it is an original sketch inspired by the edge i received. i was afraid my hand drawn piece would look out of place with the collage style most often used here. but i think the whole EC turned out well.

tony at February 22, 2006 12:48 AM

Wow. What lurks in the minds of evil men. (humanity speaking, not the gender).

MariaP at February 25, 2006 11:08 PM

I love it when I see one Ive never seen before and can say "wow."
