Oh man, that's the nuts. Exceptional. Excellent transitions occuring in unexpected ways. Aesethetically complex, a heavy mental meal. I'm loving the Winsor McCay. Forgive me, but it's Charlie Brown's Inferno and Little Nemo is his Virgil.

That's Jimmy Corrigan, not Charlie Brown. And it looks like it's one of Jimmy's better days! At least his mother isn't being left by some middle-aged guy in a superhero costume....

Darn it, one got past me. I've heard good things about the work of Chris Ware but have never read anything by him.

Cicada at February 23, 2006 10:14 AM

cool, certainty and doubt, like someone changing the channel in the second panel going from Ganesh to Jimmy and Nemo.

As for Charlie Brown's Hell, which of you is tapping into my dreams?

Sein und Zeit at February 23, 2006 10:16 AM

Oh, Please. That isnt Charlie OR Jimmy. It's Stewie!

But really. I love the background stuff... the Ganesha, the Dragon. Superb.

Zounds Padang at February 23, 2006 10:38 AM

Mmm. Are we sure it isn't a self-portrait? ;)

Miroje at February 23, 2006 10:59 AM

And...outstanding title!

Miroje at February 23, 2006 11:02 AM

yayyayayay! amazing job everyone, i like this one a lot. glad to have been a part!

and it's jimmy corrigan, alright. not charlie brown, not stewie, and NOT a self-portrait, thank you very much, Miroje. i'm glad jimmy and little nemo got recognized so quickly, so cheers, jima! the slice i got reminded me somehow of chris ware's work (the colors maybe?), so i thought i'd juxtapose a modern favorite with a classic one. :0

Yes, definite echoes of the Inferno in the last two panels. Also Mark Z. Danielewski's psychedelic horror novel House Of Leaves, which, according to http://www.sas.upenn.edu/~adrivera/way2.html gives it something in common with Radiohead's albums Kid A and Amnesiac. What a sphere of reference!

Could a case be made for panels 1 and 2 being Paradiso and Purgatorio respectively?

Wow, very nice. This is at least the third corpse with Ganesha in it (and I think there are more than that). A cool corpse meme.

Shae at February 24, 2006 2:15 PM

I love that the film edge thingie goes all the way to the bottom. This is one of the most unified corpses I've seen.

MariaP at February 25, 2006 11:05 PM

I like the title... nice.. disjointed but nice.

An Exquisite Corpse is a collaborative experiment in the creation of visual art through the tapping of the collective unconscious...
