"Son, you got a panty on your head!"

Jim at February 16, 2006 7:25 AM

ooh yay!

yistergirl at February 16, 2006 8:47 AM

Beautiful. Beautiful.

Again, the images here are just amazing, and the piece transitions wonderfully.

I love the transition of the American Indian to meat. Wow.

Cicada: If today is therapy day again, consider it a good one. Your contribution once more, is spectacular.

I like that sidebar effect on the left.

(But the creepy guy needs to get his head outta that little girl's nightie...)

FogBaron at February 16, 2006 9:44 AM

I think that's a little boy's nightie. ;-)

Ann at February 16, 2006 10:27 AM

Mmm, meat.

Andrew at February 16, 2006 10:57 AM

That's not your son. If you're a surrealist that's your great-great grand pappy.

I love it. Bosch's migraine is revealed to be the Christ child, how much serendipity is there in that? I know a lot about Bosch, he was a member of a fraternal organization dedicated to the worship of the Virgin Mary, and she's the pillar he's embracing, it is truly quite amazing.

Great work by all. The effect of having a hallucinatory experience while peering from behind the bushes is excellently realized. I love how the diagonal shaft of light falls on the Virgin and child, and the hands raised in benediction. And of course the meat, the seeds, the Indian and the leaves. Dax, Ann and damselfly, you are all very gifted.

My only regrets are that the "protoplasm" in my panel is more opaque looking then I had hoped, I worked really hard to match that background and then proceeded to cover it all up. That and that Bosch's "cigarette" is so hard to see. That creepy guy is smoking Mary's pearls.

Cicada at February 16, 2006 11:13 AM

Very nice! Love the meat, love the weirdness with the Bosch and the nightie, love the sidebar and the way it all framed up with sections and foliage. Good work all.

Droozle at February 16, 2006 1:52 PM

Zounds Padang at February 16, 2006 3:17 PM

Super. Freakin'. Duper.

doctormatt at February 16, 2006 4:26 PM

if I recall my Bosch correctly, that "creepy guy" is St. Anthony and I guess we now know what he was tempted with.

Sein und Zeit at February 16, 2006 7:55 PM

St. Anthony and the face of the "egg man" from Bosch's most famous Hell scene, the right panel of "The Garden of Earthly Delights", which some believe is a self-portrait of the artist.

Cicada at February 16, 2006 8:17 PM

Wow...you all see Bosch, but the first thing I thought of when I saw that second panel was "Mark Ryden"...nothing like seeing a touch of "the Meat Show". :)

This one is *totally* sweet.

Shelly at February 17, 2006 9:25 AM

Now that you mention it there is a certain Ryden vibe there. You got to love (and sometimes feel a bit disturbed by) Mark Ryden. I bet you he's a fan of Bosch.
