Bill Porter at January 28, 2006 10:53 AM

poo. i love poo.

goo (mariam) at January 28, 2006 1:39 PM

umm... i agree with bill.

zounds Padang at January 28, 2006 3:28 PM

there's some connection with the buddha having guns pointed at him, and the teddy bear with the scissors pointed at him, while the two middle panels ponder death and the changing of seasons. So again I say... hmmm

Bill Porter at January 28, 2006 11:47 PM

I was noticing that the teddy bear has a camel toe...

FogBaron at January 29, 2006 1:37 AM

i like this.

Patrick Beverley at January 29, 2006 12:01 PM

Camel toe? I don't even see his feet! Just kidding, FogBaron, you pervert.

murfinator at January 30, 2006 8:12 AM

I see the camel toe..... nasty

Bill Porter at January 30, 2006 12:05 PM

ummmm yea..i had no idea what to make of the slice i was given. the vividness of the red got a feeling of hell stuck in my gut. from now on, im always assuming any globular form is poop. this was my first corpse. i like how the skeleton carried through. crap, now im nervous about my next corpse........ : (

cricket at January 30, 2006 12:23 PM

cricket: You can always check the log to see who you've inherited your slice from. If it's from BP, assume it's crappy.

FogBaron at January 31, 2006 9:25 AM

thanks asshole

Bill Porter at January 31, 2006 5:33 PM

i thought he did a rather good job

Bill Porter at January 31, 2006 5:34 PM

i was a complete retard about checking the log to see who i inherited the corpse from. lesson learned. bill...it's a crap-o-rama fest next time i inherit from you. : )

cricket at January 31, 2006 6:16 PM

;-)

FogBaron at January 31, 2006 7:03 PM

gee thanks. I rather think I might stop now. I was aiming for something a little more realistic of an icon to identify with rather than say everyone's sacred "Bob" character or Andre The Giant.(For me in my twenties it was Tom Wopat, so I'm not saying I don't understand Mr.Dobbs or Andre.) I can relate to "db" alot more than the others. I have been sick before, and I see a lot of sickness everywhere, and this transcends conservatism and liberalism. Sickness is what I see on the TV. I'm sick because I actually pay for cable and all I get is commercials of things I can't afford. I'm straying here but the point is that little boy shitting is sick from the water. To me he symbolizes a great deal more and I hoped someone would "get it". Oh well. Such is life. I have some other tricks up my sleeve believe me.

Bill Porter at February 6, 2006 10:42 PM

:-)

Bill Porter at February 6, 2006 10:42 PM

While it is unfortunate that obviously people have had their feelings a little hurt through this exchange I have to say that I am glad that this conversation is taking place. It has forced a statement about the origins and motivations of the recurring "pooping boy" icon, something I and I'm sure others have been curious about.

In fact it's interesting to me when any of the players talk about their panels at all, something many seem reluctant to do for some reason. It's hard for me not to want to take the opportunity to engage in conservation about the creative process with such talented and brave people.

Bill's defense has made me realize new aspects of his work, really things I sensed in my gut (no pun intended) but hadn't quite grasped with the intellect. I think more information from the artists can only broaden the experience of the game.

There of course should be few to no restrictions on imagery. To me it seems that if a player chooses to use a provocative image, especially if said image is a stock piece in all of their works, then they should expect their to be some negative responses as that seems to be at least part of the intent. On the other hand, this is a surrealist game that I would say is in part designed to prevent personal restrictions from limiting a work of art. It is like an egalitarian group production of a dream. We should expect occasional nightmares, and even obsessively recurrent images that make us uncomfortable.

Vivent la discussion.

Cicada at February 7, 2006 11:31 AM

I never had my feelings hurt, but thank you for thinking of me. Indeed I agree with your "egalitarian group production of a dream" as concerning my involvement in future corpses. I will try that much harder to tap into the cosmic consciousness. Mucho amo.

Bill Porter at February 7, 2006 6:23 PM

hey bill do what you feel you need to, but I felt like I copped to the pervasive sickness theme right away I just started and have never got to work with our little brother of the straining brow.
