Sitting here, 7 minutes before my Digital Imaging final presentation is due, looking at this image... it's all so good.

that's birdy!

I especially like the organic nature of it all and the way the light breaks through the first panel like bright sun on stained glass. Weedo's dancing petroglyphs are a nice touch to go with the bluebirds of happiness...

FogBaron at December 16, 2005 9:34 AM

mmm...shapes and colors.

Gstar at December 16, 2005 9:51 AM

Oh yeah! Fuckin right on!

Jim at December 16, 2005 10:43 AM

It's quite lovely. Whimsical is the perfect word for it. The only observation I can make that hasn't already been said is that there's a sense of bright, childlike happiness of observation, if that makes any sense. The major, non-abstract elements, the birds, leaf, butterfly and even the cigarette butt, are all small objects, little things that escape casual experience, things that adults miss but that young children just learning to experience the world around them discover and marvel at. Pretty cool. The top panel is beautiful, like batique and stained glass.

I knew I was leaving a difficult transition for the next person. Julen, thank you for such a wonderful continuation. Great work one and all.

Fiddler at December 16, 2005 11:16 PM

very nice indeed.
this was my first try, and i'm really happy about how this came out.
it's pleasing to my eye, the transitions flow smoothly, and it's delightfully... yes, whimsical.

i'm not trying to say i'm on the same level with the other, talented and experienced guys, but anyway i feel proud for not fucking it totally up.

Thank you, everyone.

weedo at December 17, 2005 4:05 AM

Oh,this came out so well.

I interepretted that bent thing in the last panel as a pipe spewing freezing water (with everything crystalizing and cracking). It just reminded me of winter, which make sense when you think that Panel 1 is spring bursting out all over, the second is the lethargy of summer, and the third is the last harrah of fall

I've been looking at what was referred to as the blue bird of happiness. Specifically at the one with the broken neck. What profundity! Then on the opposite side we see another of them speaking out 3 whole new worlds. Or is it really 3 holes in this one? The one below can't decide with which eye to see them so eyes ended up confused. So confused that it has it's attention on the worlds/words of his sagacious brother instead of that nice juicy and delicious butterfly emerging from some chtonic extuberence just a wing's breath from satisfaction.

Cigarette or waterspout? Are the pictrographs succumbing to second hand smoke or are they drowning?

Is the leaf rising up to become the skull of Pharoah? Oh Moses, Moses, Moses! Did your rising shatter my world of glass and stone?

Sein und Zeit at December 17, 2005 8:12 AM

wow. it's beauuuuuutiful.

unapologetic at December 17, 2005 10:24 AM

What a cool image!

This was my second corpse so I'm happy I managed mine with only the slightest hint of a line.

I love how my butterfly tuned into bricks or coblestones in weedo's piece.

Can't wait for another slice to come my way.

gydnew at December 17, 2005 3:25 PM

Pretty!

Another example of why Cicada should be Official Corpse Interpreter.

Patrick Beverley at December 18, 2005 5:13 PM
