An Exquisite Corpse

I like the title a lot. The strip I got seemed totally abstract, so I went totally abstract on it. I'm not good at recognizing deer poop.

"abunai" what does that mean in English?

I don't remember seeing a corpse so commented upon.

Fiddler at November 2, 2005 7:59 PM

Oh, I think it speaks for itself.

I think "abunai" translates to "look out!". As in, look out for the deer poop.

Are we to be afflicted with "deer poop girl" just when we seem to have lost "diarrhea boy"?

I started this out with something unique and it was followed nicely in the second panel, but then it went, pardon the expression, to shit.

Fiddler at November 2, 2005 11:14 PM

A little disappointing. I didn't leave eighmie enough to go on, perhaps -- too much whitespace can be as difficult to follow as too much texture.

the "flip-the-previous-slice-upside-down" seam technique rarely works well, I'm noticing: the seam itself comes out ok, but the angles end up backwards; it ends up drawing more attention to the seam than a not-quite-matched texture would have. (Not that i haven't resorted to it myself, of course!)

I thought it was dder tracks

I think eighmie did well with the "flip-the-previous-slice-upside-down" technique here. The only trouble for me was that the slice I got from her had a built-in seam, so I didn't see any reason to do anything besides use the technique again. I think it looks decent, echoing her slice, and melting into the blue.

Fiddler: are you really compaining about this corpse? Should I be insulted?

doctormatt at November 3, 2005 11:38 AM

No insult intended doctormatt. I was just making a play on words regarding deer "poop." And that was not your contribution anyway. My only comment is that the second panel continued with the original subject matter and pallete (with the addition of a magenta element), but the third panel diverged. I don't think the second panel probably provided enough information for the third panel to continue in the same vein, but disappointingly, a previously used element (the deer poop girl) was cut and pasted in with out any apparent thought to the whole. By the time you got your slice, all connection to panels 1 and 2 was wiped out. Your panel itself is a wonderful abstract. I am just always a bit disappointed when all four panels don't harmonize. Given the mechanics of this art form, I guess it's a real wonder that they do tend to harmonize as often as they do. So I guess I should just leave my complaints to myself.
