nice work with this. I was quite curious to what was sent to me and hope those who took over after me were not in a bind by what I left. I like the mirrored images and duplications that permeate this work.

DeVico at June 17, 2005 8:53 AM

Nice corpse. The 1st piece looks like the cat is dreaming and flailing away at the fish....very cool...sets a great mood.

smd71 at June 17, 2005 8:57 AM

Is it just me, or does it seem lately that the first three panels of corpses have been very cohesive, and then the fourth panel has a very different mood? I say that as someone who has done two fourth panels lately, and both have seemed very different from the first three (#132 and #104) even though certain elements are continued. There have been some very wonderful final panels, but somehow the 4th panel, out of any of them, seems the most unlike the first three. Anyone else notice that? I would guess the first panel could also potentially have the same problem, but that's not what I've been noticing...yet...

Ann at June 17, 2005 9:10 AM

BTW, I just noticed the title on this one...gotta love it!

Ann at June 17, 2005 9:13 AM

Yeah, I've noticed that too, Ann.

And yes - one of the best titles ever.

Shae at June 17, 2005 9:22 AM

I don't see a trend that way, Ann, but I wonder about the length of the life cycle of the pieces that exhibit that shift. Some of my very early-numbered pieces were only recently completed: the link from Player 1 circa January could get pretty brittle by Player 4 in June.

The last panel kind of echoes your technique, with the dimmensional fading. What's up with the recycling of past corpse submissions (see Toilets for Americans)?

Jessica at June 17, 2005 10:54 AM

...and That Smell as well. I think Mr. Porter has a signature style (but I hesitate giving it a name).

LGM at June 17, 2005 11:24 AM

Holy Jeebus there's kids pooing and cats and winged gas-mask wearing horses.

Reminds me of the party I was at last night.

Heroin McEcstacy at June 17, 2005 12:08 PM

I would say that I am not recycling past corpse submissions. Perhaps recycling elements that have been used in previous corpses. Is that against the rules or something? I didn't think it was....but perhaps a change is in order once people starting noticing it. Or perhaps not.... Perhaps I will make 3rd world, diarhea boy a house-holed name. He will become an archetype. The patron saint of people who have bigger problems than you or I in our comfort saturated lives. Or Perhaps not. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Bill Porter at June 17, 2005 12:35 PM

excellent work by liza, Ann and DeVico by the way. I like all of your work a lot and it inspires me to do more, even outside of the corpse arena. I don't know if that makes any sense, but there ya go. Thanks.

Bill Porter at June 17, 2005 12:39 PM

Mr. Porter--
Certainly no rule against it, and don't let anyone tell you differently. It's like your chop, your signature... I think it's really weird, but then I think that most of what goes on here is more than a little odd. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Whirr at June 17, 2005 12:51 PM

Amen to that!

murfinator at June 17, 2005 1:26 PM

defecation images should be kept on your own HD, imho.
if you're into that sort of thing... (ewwwww)

hasfurrychildren at June 17, 2005 6:29 PM

Certainly no rules against re-using your own images, or even other people's images.

Zachsmind is a particular exponent of this tactic, see his sections

As it goes, I reckon establishing motifs in this way is a neat way to tie corpses together ... and even corpse sections that were both done independently of each other can be similar.

thank you

Bill Porter at June 18, 2005 1:29 PM

Panel four was what made me come straight to this corpse from the homepage anyway. Everything else is pretty and all, but bill's slice is the stand-out somehow. Maybe that's a bad thing in a subconscious collaboration project. Whatever though, love the 8-bit design!
