Hmmm. Was there a mix-up on that last panel? I'm loathe to say, "Ed, what were you thinking?" because every time someone's done that thus far, Phineas has shown up to say that a mistake was made, and hardly anyone makes a proper apology to the poor maligned artist.

Other than that, great job. It seems to contemplate the meaning of life. (Is it fun? Are we running around like rats in a cosmic maze? Are we all just going to die without purpose? Will the Universe actually recycle itself, and what role, if any, does the judeo-christian idea of God play in that?)

I don't see any evidence of a god, much less any particular brand, but I do like the transition from life to death to the stars. As Carl Sagan said, we are made of "star stuff."

i also think its interesting that after it goes from life to death and stars and all this spiritual stuff that at the bottom there is an abrupt shift to a mundane golf scene on dirt and grass. as to say dust to dust dirt to dirt, caca to caca! you're dead and your good enough to play golf on and no one cares or even remembers you!

Jacob:
Heh... I see the question of the j-x God in the wispy stuff that comes from the parrot... that looks like god-beard to my inner child. My early notions of the j-x God was kind of a cross between Father Time, Santa Claus, and Disney's version of King Neptune, but stitting on a throne of clouds, and without the mermaid theme. (I got over that idea once I started flying all the time, though, since I never saw any evidence of it. It was a straight path to paganism from there! *grin*)

Elizabeth:

That's funny: against the starry background, I saw it as a comet, but comets have been seen as beards often in human history, and sometimes as the beards of gods!

It's funny reading through these interpretations of Life - Death - Vastness of Space - Golf. I hadn't considered that my segment could be depicting life... it started out a collage that pleased me visually although as it took on life it kinda turned into a machine that heated water harnessing the power of an albino squirrel that could shoot flames from its tail.

No-one has commented on the bilingual Welsh/English roadsign yet either. Any theories how this could fit into the scheme of things?

But anyway, I *LOVE* the transition that Matthew created, from the splashing water on the water slide into the hard bone of a macabre-looking skull, and the pressure gauge becoming a spider's leg. (It *IS* a spider, isn't it? Or is it some kind of beetle?). Brilliant stuff!

I noticed the Welsh and the albino squirrel. Great job everyone!
I think people are getting in the mood for Spring. Death and the weather. Yes, two universal themes for everyone.

But isn't celebrating perfect seemlesness simply aplauding skill? I'd rather delight in the wonderful transition between pressure gage in spiper. Skills aside, the surrealism rampent in this piece disturbs and thrills me.
