The first three segments blend marvelously! What a fantastic surprise!

I can't decide how I feel, overall, though, about the addition of the latter two... They're so jarring in their difference from the beginning, aren't they?

Well, that's surrealism for you.

Interesting note: am I the only person that "reads" these images from the top down?

No bran, I totally agree with you. The top three integrate REALLY well. and the words on second and third just mix so nicely together it's hard to see the break.

To me, the jarring seems to break the idea of the corpse idea though. you can tell where the break is. But.. it's up to everyones own interpretation. It's definately surreal. `8r)

but i definately 'read' from the top down.

I stole the image just for a minute or two, because I was curious about the separate pieces. (I'll dump it from my hard drive - not to worry).

I wonder whether there might be a way in the future to see the individual contributions? Though maybe that defeats the purpose entirely.

Anyhow, I thought it might be worth noting that the whole image is only 985 pixels long. #3 looks to be short 15.

Okay, maybe it's not worth noting. Never mind. Anyhow, it all continues to be very intriguing as collaborative projects go, and I suppose I better complete my own contribution soon.

Dave included the 15px strip in with his 200px, which is why there's 15px missing. Whether this was due to a misinterpretation of the system or not, I don't know. But it made the transition so nice I wasn't going to complain. It could be something we should encourage, in fact. I think these are just going to get better and better. Keep 'em coming.

i can see where jarring might be a word to describe the picture as a whole. it is an interesting task working from only the 15 pixels and a position. i thought the stream of consciouness aspect of this one was interesting.

when I looked at this corpse for the first time this morning, I, too, thought there was a distinct "jarring' effect between the B&W text and the cartoon torso/hip section.

I look at it again, this evening, and it all makes sense. a crisp, colorful beginning (the top, as I read from top down like bran and Gonzo...), a head, if you will, flowing into a calm and reflective neck and chest area, jutting out into a once-again colorful hip-thigh-and-butt area and concluding with lovely webbed feet.

a corpse among corpses. I commend you, surrealists all!

I included LaVonne's 15 pixel strip so I could make a few changes to it, keep the flow as such. I had to rebuild part of someone's face to do it, but it looks good.

I'm fuzzy about what sized segment should be returned to Corpse Central though. 450x200 or 450x215?

Anyway, "kids aren't alright" is about those school trips to a museum you couldn't care less about and how bewildered you feel when the teacher expects you to be interested. I threw Julie Newmar in to keep Johnny Cash happy.

And no, Jesus doesn't hate you.

Ah... wait. I think I see.

Right. Okay, my bad.

I enjoyed reading Dave's thoughts about his segment. Anyone else? What were the rest of you guys thinking? This is my favorite corpse so far. Very nice everyone!

I love the way Dave blended the faces and celebrity theme of my segment with his own, especially, the woman 'kissing' Johnny Cash's cheek!

I chose to cut out photos to illustrate quotes from a blog entry I made awhile ago, because I'm not an artist and felt a bit intimidated at the thought of drawing something.

I'm in awe of the talent in this place!

The women on both sides are kissing the men on the cheeks. But since all I had on the guy in the middle was his chin I couldn't get it to work three times.

I spent ages trying to figure out what the Johnny Cash comment was in reference too, and now that I read the whole thing I like it, it certainly sounds as though you were meant to be born famous.

Alright! I admit it! I eventually cheated and looked at Mena's segment when she posted it on dollarshort.org but only after I'd sent in my own segment.

Your segment is very strong Lavonne. I don’t see this so much about drawing as about content. Plus, the surrealist were all about reappropriation and/or collage. Images, text and objects were all fair game. Surrealism thrives on juxtaposition. I draw a bit, but on my laptop without a tablet it’s impossible. I took a similar approach to yours with my segments.
