Interesting. While Dave abruptly changed the visual direction, he's given us the face of the painted toenails in Bobbi's segment. And the interruption of the Urban setting with the owl in Phineas' segment sets up the more formal japanese segment nicely, the Rising Sun a nice reference to the real thing at the top. Nicely done. "It's 4am, and there are only condiments in my refrigerator. Will you touch my owl?"

I had the same reaction regarding Dave's face and Bobbi's toenails. Woman morphs into owl (which evoked a memory of Ladyhawke, the Michelle Pfeiffer/Rutger Hauer medieval fairy tale).

Phineas and Gabriel - you've made a movie poster. The composition of your two segments together caused my jaw to drop, in part due to the delicious discomfort elicited by Gabriel's impossibly disappearing fingers into the body of that owl. The return of the sun from the top segment was another nice bit of clairvoyance.

another wow.

it's taking me a while to put it all together mentally, then i just decided to not think so hard... the whole gruesome business FITS...that thing with the owl/hand and the ladyshoulder/wings is just so weird i don't even want to think about it and i can only glance, but Hey, i scare easily.

Wow. (again)

How did it all WORK like that???

i will never be able to look at that scene of condiments on my stove the same way again....

Oh, this one makes me so happy. For all the reasons already mentioned. One thing I find funny about this is I got the idea from Dave's strip that what turned into shoulders was actually a hand, so I thought I was being terribly clever turning it into an owl, and then back into a hand. The fact that it was the woman is so much more interesting and then the hand getting mirrored in Gabriel's segment. I am again amazed.

A beautiful specimen to have up right now, considering we just got linked by Heather at Harrumph!

Finally, the recognition this place deserves!

Couldn't find that link on Heather's site, Andrew. But I agree -- this is absolutely one of the coolest places on the web just now. IMHO.

impressive work once more!

Ladyhawke, yes! don't forget Mathew Broderick as well.

The hand/claw/organ/attachment freaks me out-are the fingers piercing the owl's body or is the owl perched on hand's fingertips? I can't decide, must sleep on it.
