Love the transition of the marching boys into the strange faces. Nice overall color.

I'm very impressed with the color palate unity in the latter three tiles... I think that even a very simple common theme gives these pieces something more... Good job everyone.

Wow, what great cohesion! Despite the diversity of imagery and styles, it all works really well together.

Fantastic cohesion. It even has a great sense of weight at the bottom. Thanks folks!

i find myself continually amazed at the collective consciousness or unconsciousness. the symbolism and imagery that manages to flow through the pieces continues to wobble the mind. ideas of time breaking down, of longing. i also noticed that there is at least one image in every frame with an arm extended. wonderful job.

Very nice! Quite an elegant corpse, I think. People seem to be getting the hang of playing off the colours of the preceeding piece. This is more complex than the original corpses had to deal with (being paper and pencil.) Everythinh here just seems to come together...the images, the colour, even the themes and contrasts. Well done.

This was actually the first Corpse I created so I'm surprised and pleased that it works so well. I really love Greg and Michael's parts.

Everything just seems to flow so nicely from top to bottom. Very sweet.

Ok, this I just noticed: The first section says 'Oh how I yearn for those glorious days of yore' and the last two combine to show a scene of very medieval-looking oppression with the true kicker being the sign reading 'erase today' which just kills me. See that's what I'm talking about. I love this game. I love that you are all playing it. We all rock.

the funny thing is, alot of the imagery in my final piece, like the 'erase today' sign wasn't originally in the picture. It was going down a completely different path and i almost sent that one in. for some reason though, it just didn't feel right and i spent another day or two reworking it. now i'm glad i did.

I also noticed the days of yore/erase today theme, Phin. I, too, long for those glorious days of yore, before medieval overlords with giant buzz saws enslaved our pre-school males, which you just know is going to be Tom Ridge's next "homeland security" program.

respect to all involved.

Remember when 'dope' used to mean a BAD thing? I'm just saying.

Why do you think they CALL it 'dope'?!

I'd love to know where the images from the other zones came from.

My images were culled from Eisenstein's film Alexander Nevsky and a motion study by Muybridge. The saws came from a tool website. I teach a video class and my students are creating video corpses. I used all of the creations from this site as an example so thanks to all for the inspiration.

Hold the phone, video corpses? We must see! Not to play favorites, but the last two segments are rocking Atlanta this pm. And I think those might be my pink socks.

Hey Greg,

It would be cool to see some of the better video corpses - assuming they are short enough to practically put online.

I'd love to hear what the parameters are for the video corpses, Greg. is it live action, or animation, or both?seeing how your students would hurdle the transitions between pieces would be worth the download time, methinks.

The colors and textures and shapes are amazing in this corpse - so many different styles melding quite successfully...great job, everyone!

Regarding the elements in each piece (the top one), the hazy background image is the back of a twenty dollar bill (that I borrowed from my woman) and the guy with the martini was hand drawn on quadruled paper. I held these up to my PC Camera, since I don't have a proper scanner. The blob is strictly photoshop.

Once again, great work to everyone, as this is my favorite of the corpses I have been involved in.

You shot them with your digicamera? Wow, great use of the existing tools.

I third the putting of the video corpses online. Anyone have bandwidth they can spare?

Regarding where the images came from:

In my section, the lightbulb and hand are just a quick pen doodle (same for the flying man) I scanned in. The lightbulb was almost an immediate idea from what I was given.

I was stumped with the textures in what turned out to be wings. I played around replicating it, but I got behind and frustrated. I was stuck on limbs of some sort- first arms, but the idea of limbs led to an idea that the ribbing in socks might be a kind enough transition if of simular overall color. The socks are scanned in from the book "Folk Socks: The History & Techniques of Handknitted Footwear" by Nancy Bush, from that lone sock on page 59. It's actually a burnt orange color in the original.

And lastly, and most obviously, I just completed the steering wheel and made a little trail with it's image.

For some reason, an old alphatime letter friend song popped into my head as I was doing this:

"Sometimes when I go to sleep,

I'm scared.

So I slink on over to my secret box,

and slip into my super socks.

Tadadata!

I am a super sonic streak in the sky!

Mr. S to the rescue they cry!"

So that's why there's a flying man~ it's Mr. S.

I also want to say how incredibly coherent and wonderful this corpse is; I praise my cohorts. :)

Note, too, the repetition of the circles: the eye of the drawing, the flower, the "angel's" stomach, the "steering wheels", the saw blades, and the donut shapes at the bottom. It's shit luck, but it really pulls the whole piece together. I just got my assignment. This is a tough act to follow.

Holy canoli. (Actually the words that flew out of my mouth are unrepeatable here). I'm so very impressed.

Those wings look like a pelvis, and the top four pieces form a whole person. I'm being obvious, I know, but I can't help it. I'm in awe.

We're getting very good at the continuity thing. The seams are just about seamless, and when they aren't they're damn interesting.

Kudos all.
