Now, see? We don't *always* have to be dark and moody with our corpses.

I think this is the first traditional Exquisite Corpse we've had -- head, torso, legs and feet. Nicely styled, kids.

Aha! I *thought* those were feathers in Jocelyn's segment. I got the orientation of the body backward, though. (Recognize that bum? It's Bruce Springsteen! Born in the USA, mang!)

I think this is the first piece to follow the "corpse" idea seen in the early

surrealist examples: head/torso/feet.

Neat.

jima i think you did a better job with the torso than i did with the whole groin/chin confusion. but nice ass. and happy birthday.

I really like the echoed outspread arms in the two top pieces.

I like the arms, too. Sort of a weird recursive thing, where the guy's head is actually another body. I'd like to see the woman's head replaced with a smaller body, and the head of THAT body replaced with an even smaller body, and so on ad infinitum.

Thanks, Jocelyn. I wonder how you knowed it was my birthday. Did the Phineas tell you? He nice, the Phineas.

Groins and chins can be pretty confusing, though.

Re: Anacrusis.

Just looked it up - what a perfect word for a first segment!

"One or more syllables at the beginning of a line of poetry that are regarded as preliminary to and not a part of the metrical pattern."

excellent corpse!

I was trying to categorize the imagery I was getting from this corpse but couldn't place it at first. The greens gave me an almost murky underwater feeling, but then I hit on it. There is a very distinctive elephant feel. I now have this image of someone riding on the back of an African elephant. It's great.

and katie, is that text supposed to say welcome to the real world, or real woolly...;)

It said real world!

Something really bad happened to my section...it didn't look all funky like that...Oh no! I had it saved as corpse.jpg, and I then changed the name. Now I realize somehow something VERY strange happened when I did that. Can I resend it?

I kinda like it all jaggy like that, Katie. But if that's not the way it was intended, you should send the right one in.

I dunno, Katie. This is highly irregular... and as it stands I think we all kind of like it. Whatever happened certainly is interesting. If I were you, I'd accept the fact that fate finished this Corpse for you. Rather in the way Marcel Duchamp didn't pronounce his piece 'The Large Glass' finished until the namesake glass was broken by careless shipping. But if you want to send your slice again with a compelling argument as to why I should go against the whims of the universe I'll think about it...

Wow Katie - I thought the whole pixelated effect was intentional, unique, and very cool. So you're saying somewhere in the renaming process your file was corrupted? très étrange! It's as if the ghost in the machine was your assistant.

I can understand your wanting it to be presented as intended, too, though...what a splendid dillema (or "what a fantastic death mask!" to quote a Dzavid Bowie video.) I would leave it, really like the synchronicity. But maybe you can talk Phineas into having the first sub-corpse (0023-A?) if it really bothers you.

amy: "Groins and chins can be pretty confusing, though." Best comment quote ever.

I think that in this case, a subcorpsing would be the best solution. I agree that the pixellation, if intentional, is a valid and interesting end to this interesting corpse, but if it isn't the intent of the artist, then we should allow for the original selection to be seen. bring on the slice!

Heh, I kinda like it like it this way, too. Racking my brain to figure out what went wrong, I found that the default compression settings had been changed by my little sister, who was using my software to play around a little. So when I did a "Save As," instead of being saved at highest quality, it was saved at the lowest. Ah well, it looks cool. I'm leaving it be.

I like the overall feel of it. The pixelation is interesting but I am curious what the intention was. How about a rollover area of the corpse, with image swaps between the intended and the accidental?

I love this corpse! I like the different views of women in the first segment. Looks like a supermodel head & shoulders and "Venus of Willendorf" for the body. Then the manly chest and buttocks. Seems to say, we're all so different that we're all the same together.

I don't know. I just know I likey!
