Mirla, how on earth did you know Gonzo's segment was filled with footprints? It's another eerie corpse coincidence, no? And Meg, I'm thinking you must be the exception to the "garbage in, garbage out" rule. Can you also spin straw into gold? Seeing the assembled corpse, it's clear my match is once again the weakest. Fortunately, the only thing saving the corpse from falling completely apart at the third seam is Bobbi's choice of the graveyard image which helps creates sort of a "Six Feet Under" effect. But I must work harder on those transitions.

I'm getting a lot less hung up on the idea of transitions as this project progresses. Mel, while your segment may not flow directly, pixel for pixel out of Bobbi's the conceptual echoes are amazing. Bones beneath the graveyard (could you tell it was a graveyard from the strip?), and especially re-introducing the snake-like forms (in your case, actual snakes) from a piece you'd not seen at all. I think the whole thing works beautifully. I wonder if anyone else is as amazed as I am that this is working as well as it is, and continues to yield interesting results every time.

I, too, am amazed at how well these corpses are gelling. Weren't the original Exquisite Corpses partly an experiment with collective consciense? If not, these surely are.

Not a clue about the footprints(!), beyond Gonzo's "wish to be complete" which, not to cheapen the mystery, begged the unearthing of a suitable rhyme.
And Mel, I BEG to differ. Yours is a gorgeous piece, and I love the way you continued the green lines of Bobbi's "barbed-wire" topped fence, and yes, brought back the snake image, clairvoyantly completed by Meg (and how did YOU know you were measuring a man, Miss Notsosoft!), in some kind of bizarre psychic connection we all seemed to share, putting Ms. Cleo to shame.

Very cool. I like how the top parts are more playful/sky/light, then you have the graveyard, then the darker/internal/extinct parts. Then we have the "I only wish to be complete" text in section 1, followed by "what is the measure of a man" in section 5. Everything just kind of melts together in an amazing way. Mel I love your part, it may be my favourite. Oh and a dodo! Dodo imagery has been soley lacking in previous corpses, Very cool.
(kind of off topic, but I was just reading how they have some dodo dna and may try to clone a new one - "back from the dead.")

The only thing I could make out from Bobbi's strip was a detail that's barely visable now. It was a partial face, (eye and part of a nose) positioned directly between my "legs". So I just completed the face using the biggest pr_ck I could think of, Osama. My first thought was to have the snake coming out of his mouth, but I resisted the temptation to extend the um...member, in favor of the more uncomfortable visual of a vulnerable crotch. That said, I believe this project is working on both a conscious and subconscious level. It's possible that our minds "fill in" where the stip leaves off. Otherwise, I can't understand how so many of the corpses have shared a common theme and/or ethos.

Ok, I have to say I hadn't seen the Osama face at all until Mel pointed it out. Levels and levels, I tell you. We've got a whole fine arts elective class brewing here. No question.

Wow!
That looks incredible. the feet things is very weird. I didn't know what would happen with the words I included (intentionally) but I'm very happy with what mirla did with it.
Now the question is... do you intentionally leave a 'hint' for the next person to do something strange with it?
The transitions are getting VERY good!

WOW!!! this is the first one that i worked on that i have seen complete...and it was the HARDEST part yet. i'm sorry i was the slacker that held it up. Hints??? Who gets hints?? that tiny little strip is terrifyingly fun! i didn't have a clue where it could have come from. All intuitive powers failed me completely. It is so cool to see the whole now, though, and realize there MUST be some kind of collective consciousness. Cool.

[Note unrelated to this Corpse: Because reading comments from the bottom up chronologically suddenly strick me as non-sensical, I switched it so they go from the top down, newest comment at the bottom. I probably should have said something at the time. Anyway, if people would like to register opinions regarding comment order, please email me.]

of corpse, I prefer newest comment on top, but that may be just me.
as for the corpse, well, it's straight out of my dreams last night - the snake skeletons, the footprints, a pink-feathered Dodo....
creepy. lovely. great job, y'all!

I leave hints, Gonzo, but I don't always leave ones that make sense divorced from the piece (mua ha ha) -- hence the delight of Bobbi's barbed-top fence and entrance way to the cemetery.
I liked being on top, Phineas. I mean -- you know what I mean. :-)
